CDCP Coverage at Victoria Dental: What's Actually Covered
· 6 min read · Victoria Dental
We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Here is what CDCP typically covers, where co-payments apply, and how to book with your client number.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) has brought a lot of Thunder Bay residents back into the dental chair after years away. We accept CDCP and bill it directly, so you are not out of pocket waiting for a reimbursement cheque.
What CDCP generally covers
- Exams, X-rays and diagnostic services.
- Cleanings, scaling and polishing.
- Fillings and other basic restorative treatment.
- Extractions and certain endodontic treatment.
- Dentures and some prosthodontic services.
Where co-payments apply
CDCP pays a percentage based on your adjusted family net income. Households under the lowest threshold usually pay nothing toward eligible services; above that, you cover 40% or 60%. Some treatments are also billed above the CDCP fee grid, and that difference is yours to pay.
We always give you a written estimate before treatment so there is no surprise at the desk. If a treatment is not covered, we will tell you what it costs and what the alternatives are.
Preauthorization
More involved treatment — crowns, dentures, some oral surgery — needs preauthorization from CDCP before we start. We submit that paperwork for you and let you know when it clears.
Booking with CDCP
Have your CDCP member ID ready when you request an appointment. Our front desk verifies your coverage before your visit so your estimate is accurate on day one.
